Yoshi's Jazz Clubs
Oakland & San Francisco

The world renowned San Francisco Bay Area jazz club, Yoshi's in Jack London Square in Northern California is expanding, opening another club across the bay in San Francisco. The new club, located in the Fillmore District, includes an upscale restaurant featuring a modern Japanese cuisine, developed by the same chef who is in charge of the kitchen at the world-class restaurant in the Oakland Yoshi's. The club is located on the ground floor of the Fillmore Heritage Center occupying 28,000 square feet, with valet or self parking available in the garage under the building. There is seating for 417, with a custom sound system designed by JK Sound and a beautiful 9' Hamburg Steinway Grand Piano.
Yoshi's began in 1973 as a small, North Berkeley sushi bar owned by a trio of struggling students with plenty of dreams. The 25-seat restaurant quickly became successful and by 1977 they moved to a larger space on Claremont Avenue in Oakland, and began introducing live music in their restaurant. Over the next 20 years, Yoshi's built itself into one of the world's most respected jazz venues in the world, moving to it's present location in the historic Jack London Square at the port of Oakland ten years ago. Occupying 17,000 square feet with 330 seats, they provide a unique atmosphere where every seat is a good seat and the acoustics are impecable.
Yoshi's features both straight ahead jazz and Smooth Jazz shows, as well as world music, blues, neo-soul, latin jazz and afro-cuban music. There are two shows per night at both locations. They offer cocktail and dining service throughout each show and request a 1-drink minimum per customer. Yoshi's is open to all ages.
The grand opening will take place on November 28, 2007, with a community open house afternoon event December 1.
