Rippingtons
 
The Rippingtons, formed in 1986 by guitarist Russ Freeman, is another pioneer of the genre known today as Smooth Jazz. Russ has been accompanied by many musicians that have made a name for themselves in the genre, Jeff Kashiwa, David Benoit, Dave Koz, Gregg Karukas, Kenny G, Brandon Fields, and Steve Reid, as well as many well known sidemen. Current line-up consists of Kim Stone on bass, Dave Karasony on drums, Bill Heller on keyboards, and Jeff Kashiwa playing saxophone. When Jeff is double booked with his own band, the Sax Pack, various other sax players sit in for him.

The Rippingtons are currently working on their 18th album, due out in the spring.
