Lao Tizer, Chieli Manucci, Karen Briggs

We caught up with pianist Lao Tizer and his band TIZER with Chieli Manucci on guitar and Karen Briggs on violin at Yoshi's in San Francisco. Rufus Philpot accompanied on bass and Raul Pineds on drums. Stretching the limits of Smooth Jazz, this band is more on the rock side, Lao's compositions are complex with involved melodies. This band puts on a phenomenal show. Lao on keyboards front and center with Karen and her fiddle to his right and his mentor, Chieli to his left, light up the stage. At 31, Lao is the new generation of Smooth Jazz artists and we are sure his career will be long and prosperous.
